7 Awesome Reasons to Get on Team Miley ...

Miley Cyrus has been creating a media frenzy, which means there is no better time than now to join Team Miley. Now I’m not implying that she is a good role model for young girls or trying to say that she always makes the best choices, but there are plenty of reasons to be a fan of this controversial artist. If you’re not sure how you feel about Miley Cyrus, then check out my reasons to get on Team Miley.

The Music

The Music The most compelling reason to join team Miley is, of course, the music. I mean, have you listened to Bangerz? It’s actually pretty good. Miley is pushing the boundaries of pop music with Bangerz by experimenting with different sounds, artist, and styles. No two songs on the album sound the same. She managed to get collaborations with everyone from Ludacris, to Britney Spears, to French Montana for Bangerz. Although each song has a different vibe, they are all dance-worthy. Miley admitted that after she listened to the completed album the first time, she realized it unintentionally tells a story about her life and relationship with Liam Hemsworth. Bangerz starts with “Adore You” and finishes with “Someone Else.” If that’s not a strong message, I don’t know what is. If you haven’t given Bangerz a listen, download it now and you may just find yourself joining Team Miley.

She is True to Herself

She is True to Herself Remember when Miley cut off all her hair? Of course you do! How could anyone forget? It was the haircut heard around the world. While Miley dealt with a lot of criticism for her drastic new ‘do, she didn’t let that phase her. She simply explained that she was happier with her new haircut and that she had never felt prettier. It’s so easy to get caught up with how others perceive us, but take a lesson from Miley Cyrus and be true to yourself. Focus on making yourself happy and don’t listen to the critics. Her “do what I want attitude” is admirable and is just another reason to get on Team Miley.

The Dancing Bears

The Dancing Bears The scene with the dancing bears is my favorite in the “We Can’t Stop” music video. I was so happy to see them make an appearance during her now infamous VMA performance. For me, the dancing bears are a metaphor for not taking things so seriously and having some fun. Miley portrays herself as a very carefree and fun individual and I think we could all use a little of her “dancing bear” attitude in our own lives. If you like the imagery of dancing bears and french fry skulls, then you belong on Team Miley!

The Js on Her Feet

The Js on Her Feet Another reason to get on Team Miley is that she is multitalented. Not only does she sing pop and country music as well as act, but she has recently ventured into the world of rapping. In Mike Will Made It’s song “23” featuring Juicy J and Wiz Khalifa, Miley makes her rapping debut, “Tatted up, mini-skit with my Js on.” Surprisingly, Miley has some major talent rapping and adds a nice dimension to the song.

The Fearless Fashion

The Fearless Fashion Miley Cyrus is establishing herself as a fashion icon. She isn’t afraid to experiment with her clothes and designers are beginning to take notice. Diesel’s creative director (and the man behind Lady Gaga’s infamous meat dress) Nicola Formichetti told Grazia Daily that Miley Cyrus is on the top of his list of stars to dress. “I think she’s a beautiful girl, doing her thing. I’d love to work with her.” If some of the top designers in the game are taking note of Miley’s style, maybe we should all be paying attention. Although we may not all be comfortable with showing our midriffs on a daily basis, we can implement other aspects of Miley’s bold looks into our wardrobe to spice things up.

She Doesn’t Let Criticism Get Her down

She Doesn’t Let Criticism Get Her down After Miley Cyrus shocked and stunned the nation with her VMA Performance, she underwent an onslaught of hate from other celebrities and the media. Instead of folding to the pressure, Miley didn’t let the criticism slow her down. Miley told MTV that she doesn’t “pay attention to the negative.” I think we can all learn something from Miley’s attitude when it comes to being on the receiving end of hateful comments. Her views directly correlate with her fun and carefree image she portrays. The lighthearted atmosphere surrounding Miley is just another reason to join her movement.

She is Okay with Being Single

She is Okay with Being Single Let’s face it; it can be hard to be single. In a society where we are constantly shown couples in happy relationships on TV, in the movies, and in books, being single can feel very disappointing. Miley Cyrus went through a very public breakup with her fiancé, Liam, right before the release of her album. In an interview with Cosmopolitan, Miley had this to say about her breakup: “This is the best time of my life. I’m not going to look back on it and be like, ‘I wish I hadn’t been dwelling over a breakup,’ you know?” We all have the potential to be living the best times of our lives, so don’t waste it fretting over something you can’t change. Miley also admits that she is happy and comfortable with being single. I admire Miley for her confidence in her relationship status and think we can all learn something from her attitude about it.

Well there you have it! These are my awesome reasons to get on Team Miley. I think there is something about Miley Cyrus that every twenty-something can relate to. She is attempting to break out of her adolescent and teen image and transform into her adult self. It’s hard to do under the spotlight, but Miley manages to maintain a great outlook on life, even if she creates some controversy along the way. Are you a fan of Miley or did she lose your respect after her VMA performance? Sound off in the comments!

Where Thoughts and Opinions Converge

Yes Miley is staying true to herself, a racist. She's appropriating black culture to the fullest. And although she's "just being Miley" it's not okay. Can't say I'm on Team Miley

I don't think Miley is all that bad too be honest, as stated shes not a good role model for young girls and I don't think she intends to be. Obviously she's doing what she wants and there are some who like her or don't; just like every other celebrity. I like some of her songs and although I think she should tone down her behavior I don't have a problem with her.

If she was just a random teenage girl no one would care . People only care because she was already famous. I know teenagers that have worse behavior than her. She's just trying to express herself and who are we to stop her?

Yeah, I'm still not fond of Miley. Now granted, I don't hate her; most people feel the need to verbally abuse any celebrity they deem as unfit to be an artist. In my opinion, this not only motivates them out of anger, but it's also simply not true, particularly in Miley's case. This chick's vocals stand out and are very good in my opinion. However, her "style" is both inappropriate and not even her's to begin with. Like every other female pop artist after Lady Gaga this past decade, she persistently does crazy things to gain attention - how is that being true to herself? I pray for Miley Cyrus because her home life probably sucks, her last relationship failed, and quite frankly, I have no idea what it's like to walk in her shoes or what emotions she hides in the process. What you see on camera is almost never how things truly are when it comes to one person's life. Have any of us ever just sat and talked with the girl? Did we even stop to think about it? Probably not. Never, ever judge based on popular media, or anything for that matter; if you haven't met Miley, I'd suggest you keep your mouth shut. People can surprise you.

Oh I was already team Miley, I'm proud of her

I love her i don't care what people think she is amazing

i been supporting miley since 06 and still is i will always be a fan

She's a hooker and bad influence on kids!

Can't say I like her, can't say I don't, can't see why it matters. Ke$sha has been more provocative longer than Miley, and she's made the cover of Seventeen twice. So why all the fuss? The only thing about which I wonder is her parents. I can't believe that all of these incidents carefully choreographed to create controversy did not have the approval of her mother and father. I would have more questions for them, than for her.
