Where Thoughts and Opinions Converge

I appreciate the awareness this article brings to dyslexia but it contains inaccurate information. Dyslexia affects nowhere near 33% of the population. The International Dyslexia Association (IDA) and the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP) cites it as 15-20%. Additionally, there is no cure for dyslexia so if Tom Cruise stated that he overcame dyslexia through church, he's wrong. Skill deficits improve with intensive, research-based intervention and no amount of church is going to change that. Maybe his church helped him with social/emotional issues but church will not cure the fundamental skill deficits that define dyslexia. If it did, he wasn't a true dyslexic to begin with.

Ya Bella Thorne !

where is bella thorne

OMG!!! Can I just say... My daughter has dyslexia and yes you can call it a disability as one has to learn to deal and except the fact but I truly believe that all children are gifted some more than others and they have to find their passion/careers in life. My daughter is doing a double degree in engineering and science and has been offered a scholarship and she has dyslexia. She had to face her fears and she did. What we lack in we gain in other areas of skills. Thank god!!! We're not all made the same as I lives would be so boring without life's challenges. We all deal with it in our own way so I feel Tom cruise can say what he wants to say as it's his way of dealing with it and that's whats makes us all different. And to my daughter Isobel I'm so proud of you. If we except it ! Then we can more on in our life's to try and achieve great things. We must remember no one is perfect! The the question is .., What is!!!!!!! We all see things differently. Thanks for reading.. Juliana x
