7 Funny Women Changing the Game Right Now ...

After seeing seemingly endless praise for Amy Schumer across the board, I decided it was time to check out her show, Inside Amy Schumer. What started as “checking it out” led to almost five hours spent binge-watching the entire series. It’s the comedy we all need in our lives, whether we’re men or women, and that’s what makes it so special. Amy Schumer is without a doubt one of the funny women to keep an eye right now.

You probably know Retta from Parks and Recreation, so you know just how funny she is. However, are you following her Twitter account? Her tweets are absolutely hysterical, especially if you’re a television fan. She live-tweets her favorite show and they are genius.

I think it’s almost impossible not to love Tina Fey. If you haven’t read Bossypants yet (there’s no shame there, I just got around to it this year), pick up a copy and spend an hour or two reading it. It will placate your 30 Rock withdrawals, I can promise you that.

If you’ve even watched Saturday Night Live or Parks and Recreation at least once, you’ve probably fallen in love with Amy Poehler. Like Mindy Kaling writes in her book, “Everyone has a moment when they discover they love Amy Poehler.” For me, it was on Parks and Recreation. Seriously, when was the last time we saw a female character, or any character for that matter, like Leslie Knope?

If you don’t love Mindy Kaling and religiously watch The Mindy Project, I’m not sure what you’re doing with your life, but probably a lot more than me. The Mindy Project is arguably the funniest sitcom on TV right now, and if you aren’t watching it yet, I suggest you spend the summer catching up. You won’t be sorry.

Many people don’t know Liz Meriwether just yet, but she’s the woman behind a few of your favorites. She created, writes, and produces New Girl, everyone’s favorite show, which may not surprise a lot of people. She also, though, wrote No Strings Attached, the friends with benefits movie that came a few months before Friends with Benefits. It was a big year for friends with benefits in movies.

You probably already know Anjelah Johnson and don’t know it. Anjelah Johnson is responsible for some of the most iconic comedic characters of our time. She’s Bon Qui Qui from MAD tv and she’s the girl with the nail salon stand-up. You’ve probably already seen a lot of her work. If you love her as Bon Qui Qui, you need to spend some time watching her other stand-up, because she is absolutely hilarious.
