Jennifer Lawrence's Empowering Response to Her Leaked Photos ...

Jennifer Lawrence is on the cover of Vanity Fair's latest issue (which, by the way, is a STUNNING cover) and she's finally opened up about her stolen nude photos. She talked about her fear for how her career would be affected and how violated she felt with this lack of privacy. Here's a snippet of what she had to say:

"Just because I'm a public figure, just because I'm an actress, does not mean that I asked for this. It does not mean that it comes with the territory. It's my body, and it should be my choice, and the fact that it is not my choice is absolutely disgusting. I can't believe that we even live in that kind of world.

"It is not a scandal. It is a sex crime... it is a sexual violation. It's disgusting. The law needs to be changed, and we need to change. That's why these Web sites are responsible. Just the fact that somebody can be sexually exploited and violated, and the first thought that crosses somebody's mind is to make a profit from it. It's so beyond me. I just can't imagine being that detached from humanity. I can't imagine being that thoughtless and careless and so empty inside."

I'm glad Jennifer's opened up about the situation and is proving to the world that she's a strong and powerful woman. "I'm not crying about it anymore," she told the magazine. "I can't be angry anymore. I can't have my happiness rest on these people being caught, because they might not be. I need to just find my own peace." You go girl!!

How dare she compare this to a sex crime! That is an insult for real victims. You took naked pictures of yourself no one forced you to. And you were dumb enough to keep them on your phone/computer.

You put it on social media on your phone, what do you expect. It wasn't a sex crime either.

I don't get why people would do that either but it is still not like she meant for the world to see it. I wish that people would just stop picking on all the celebs that at least try to be good and that the world would just worry about their own problems

Praise to her for standing up for herself but at the same time, why the heck did she even take nude photos of herself?? I get it if you take photos of yourself to show your weight loss before and after pictures but... Why? On the other hand, it is a crime for someone to steal those photos.

I don't understand why women take nude photos of themselves, but that's none of my business. I do agree with her: those photos were private property. Someone STOLE them then released them. How would you feel if this happened to your mom, sister, or friend?

legally it is a sex crime, possession and distribution of obscene material. sex crimes arent always violent

I adore her but I don't understand why anyone would take nude photos of themselves though or even store it somewhere. I agree that being a celebrity doesn't mean they asked for it but they like everyone else should use caution and protect themselves. I still adore her.

It is a sex crime. There are different levels to crime... Manslaughter vs murder, ect. She never consented to have those pictures seen by the masses. She's a grown woman and she's perfectly entitled to take whatever pictures she wants of herself. Pictures save automatically to the cloud unless you dismantle it. Everyone slut shaming her and acting like she deserved it bc of her celeb status are a part of the problem.
