If you listen really closely, you can hear the cries of women all over the world after hearing that Benedict Cumberbatch is now a husband-to-be! According to The Mail On Sunday, Benedict actually flew to Edinburgh to ask his long-time girlfriend Sophie Hunter's mother permission for her daughter's hand in marriage. Can we all let out a collective "AW"?!

A spokesperson for Cumberbatch confirmed the happy couple's good news: " I am delighted to confirm the announcement that Benedict Cumberbatch and Sophie Hunter are engaged." In case you don't know much about the lucky lady, she's a theater director and actress. In fact, the two worked together in the 2009 thriller, "Burlesque Fairytales."

When Benedict was asked about his thoughts on commitment, he said: "I can imagine I'll look back at this point in my life and think: 'Wow that was really extraordinary.' But at the same time I hope I'm looking back and going, 'Oh, that was the moment I got on with life and realised things beyond myself.' Without using words like 'marriage', 'children' and 'family' - although I have just used those words - put it this way, I hope I've got other people to look back with me at that point.
