Being the intense smoothie fan I am, I found it interesting when I came across some favorite smoothies of celebrity doctors most recently. I figured if some of the biggest money making doctors in Hollywood had a favorite smoothie, it was worth me giving it a shot! Smoothies are a super snappy, simple way to get in tons of nutrition, vitamins and minerals. The key to making a grade A kind of smoothie is the combination of what ingredients you put in. These favorite smoothies of celebrity doctors are just perfect in terms of their nutritional profile, and did I mention they taste like a million bucks too? Check these smokin' smoothies out and get your blenders going!
One of my favorite shows is The Doctors, and when looking for great smoothies of celebrity doctors, I turned to the show’s website first. One of my absolute favorite recipes on the website was The Doctors' famous Guilt-Free shake, which is filled with fiber, protein, antioxidants and even mood-boosting chocolate! Check out this recipe as a great way to start the day or even indulge guilt-free in the afternoons. It's also a pretty pink color, which is perfect for all us girls out there!
¾ cup plain Greek yogurt
1 cup frozen raspberries
Splash of organic raspberry juice
Optional: ½ cup chopped nuts, such as almonds or walnuts
Blend the yogurt, frozen raspberries, organic raspberry juice, chopped dark chocolate. Add nuts to the top and enjoy!
Plain Greek yogurt contains two-times the amount of protein than regular yogurt, which helps satiate the appetite.
Raspberries are rich in antioxidants and high in fiber. Just 1 cup contains 8 grams of fiber.
Dark chocolate is rich in flavinoids, which help reduce cholesterol levels and the risk of blood clots.
Nuts such as almonds and walnuts contain monounsaturated fatty acids, which help curb appetite and lower the risk of heart disease and diabetes.
Here’s another tasty smoothie from The Doctors television show by Dr. Sears. This recipe sounds pretty tasty if you ask me, and it’s incredibly simple. I guess this proves that just because he’s a doctor, it doesn’t necessarily mean he spends hours with his blender like he does in the ER!
1 cup rice milk (or soy, cow, almond)
1 scoop of chocolate flavored multi-nutrient protein powder
3 or 4 frozen strawberries
½ cup frozen blueberries
Mix everything in the blender ... and blend!
Now here’s a recipe that is kid-friendly as well as super nutritious from Dr. Sears! This recipe is full of Vitamin A, antioxidants, folate, iron, fiber and protein. It is also a beautiful color! Blend this kid-friendly treat for a dose of serious nutrition power.
2/3 cup carrot juice
1 scoop vanilla flavored multi-nutrient protein powder
2/3 cup frozen blueberries
½ cup uncooked kale or spinach
½ frozen banana (for extra sweetness)
**Mix everything in a blender. Blend on high for 1 minute.
If you want the healthiest smoothie alive, this may just possibly be it. You don’t need any powders or mixes at all either. All you need are fresh fruits and veggies. So here’s a recipe for you to make the breakfast drink that Dr. Oz swears by! This "green drink" is high in fiber, low-calorie and rich in vitamins. The best part is, you could have one half the recipe for breakfast and the rest for lunch!
2 cups spinach
1/4 head of celery

1 bunch mint
Combine all ingredients in a blender. Serve and enjoy!
This summer smoothie is perfect for a hot day, or anytime you need a hydrating energy boost! I absolutely love having smoothies in the summertime when it’s hot out. It’s the perfect time to get in some nutrition without eating anything hot and heavy. The Paradise Smoothie from Keri Glassman, my favorite Registered Dietitian, is also easy on the eyes, which kind of makes you feel prettier just by drinking it! It is also extremely healthy and slimming at the same time due to the protein and potassium in Greek yogurt, along with the digestive benefits found in the live and active probiotic cultures in the yogurt. The avocado adds a delicious creaminess and an extra boost of potassium, along with B vitamins. I’m thinking this would make a great beach time recipe, what about you?
1 medium ripe peach, sliced
2 tbsp chopped Hass avocado
1/3 cup unsweetened frozen strawberries
3/4 cup fat-free plain yogurt
3 tbsp 100% pomegranate juice
1 tsp grapeseed oil
1 tsp pure vanilla extract
Place all ingredients in a blender. Puree about 15 seconds or until smooth. Pour into a tall glass and serve with a tall straw.

One of my favorite magazines always has been and always will be Shape Magazine. It may be a fitness based magazine, but the recipes in the magazine are so tasty. I always end up clipping and saving recipes and posting them to my fridge so I don’t forget to make them. For example, this Orange Creamsicle smoothie by the magazine’s staff doctor, Dr. Mike Roussel, is absolutely divine! You really feel like you’re drinking an Orange Creamsicle with this one, girl. It is perfectly filling and satisfying due to the protein and contains plenty of Vitamin C for your immunity and detox organs. You won’t believe the ingredients either! Give it a try and you’ll soon become a fan yourself!
1 scoop vanilla protein powder
1/4 orange peel
2 Tbsp Walnuts
2 Tbsp flaxseed meal
1 cup cottage cheese
1 1/2 cups water
3 ice cubes
Combine all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. For a thicker shake add less water or more ice cubes.
