8 Favourite Lady GaGa Songs ...
8 Favourite Lady GaGa Songs ...

She might seem to be trying a bit too hard sometimes, but there’s no denying that Lady GaGa is immensely entertaining. Behind all the wacky outfits, she’s also a talented musician and songwriter – which is more than can be said for some ‘singers’! Here are some of my favourite Lady GaGa songs, most of which make me want to get up and dance (pity I have to think of the downstairs neighbours …).

Poker Face

This was the first Lady GaGa song I ever heard, and I came to it via a rather odd route – listening to the Venetian Princess parody on Youtube. So I thought I’d listen to the original, and found I really rather liked it. That, of course, led me to check out other songs …

Alejandro

Boy, the extended version of the video has some reaaaaally weird imagery. I’m not quite sure what to make of it, but if GaGa set out to provoke, she probably more than succeeded. Nor am I keen on the spoken intro – what IS that accent supposed to be? – but once the song gets going, I really enjoy it. The original is definitely one of my favourite Lady GaGa songs.

3

Beautiful, Dirty Rich

This song is way too short! I love it so much it should be at least a minute longer. Plus GaGa looks like she’s having a lot of fun in the video. Wouldn’t we all like to be beautiful and rich!

4

Bad Romance

Another great video here. I really, REALLY want the flamethrower bra she wears at the end – how cool is that? It just goes to show – don’t mess with a strong woman, or you are bound to regret it! Plus it’s a fantastic song (even if the lyrics can get a little odd). The meaning behind it really makes it one of my favourite Lady GaGa songs.

LoveGame

I like this song for the immortal line, ‘I wanna take a ride on your disco stick.’ Really, Lady GaGa! I think we all know what you mean. Wonder if she managed it? Though I expect GaGa always gets her way. Another great danceable tune.

Famous Quotes

Men in general judge more from appearances than from reality. All men have eyes, but few have the gift of penetration.

Eh Eh (Nothing else I Can Say)

This is about as conventional as GaGa gets musically. The song actually reminds me rather of Europop – it’s the kind of song that you would hear in discos on holiday. I can’t quite make up my mind if I like it or not – I think it’s one of those songs that I really have to be in the mood for.

Paparazzi

I really, really love the house in this video, it’s amazing – and the view over the sea is extraordinary. Visually the whole video is extraordinary, and GaGa makes some interesting points about the nature of fame. Perhaps one of her more introspective songs, which is primarily why it's one of my favourite Lady GaGa songs.

Telephone

I always think GaGa’s at her best when she really belts out a song, and this song barely lets up for a moment. Although I’m not a fan of Beyonce, she fits in so well with GaGa here, being blessed with a pretty strong pair of lungs herself. She also makes a good femme fatale.

Lady GaGa has made such an impact on the music scene that it seems like she’s been around for a lot longer than she has. She's become very popular very quickly, as you can see by the number of songs I love. What are your favourite Lady GaGa songs, and what do you think of her image(s)?
