Funny man Leslie Nielsen lost his battle with life late Sunday afternoon.
The legendary comedian with memorable roles in Airplane! and in The Naked Gun series of movies died due to complications from pneumonia, E! News reported.
"We are saddened by the passing of beloved actor Leslie Nielsen, probably best remembered as Lt. Frank Drebin in The Naked Gun series of pictures, but who enjoyed a more than 60 year career in motion pictures and television," said a rep for Nielsen's family.
Nielsen had been hospitalized for nearly a fortnight before he passed away.
Having traversed the journey from a serious actor to one with impeccable comic timing, Nielsen is best remembered as the funny man for his deadpan humor.
His family has asked for the fans to not send flowers, but instead to make donations to charities in his name.
