1. Karine Vanasse
Currently starring as Margaux LeMarchal on ABC's TV series "Revenge," Karine Vanasse is well on her way to becoming a household name; her delightful personality and flawless acting ability make it easy to see why she is considered one of the most talented Canadian stars to hit Hollywood. While I used to look forward to Sunday nights with her retro-inspired drama "Pan Am," it's a relief to see that she is getting her well-deserved big break on ABC once again.
2. Ryan Gosling
I will use any excuse to talk about this beautiful and ridiculously skilled man. As the lead in a variety of films ("The Notebook," "Drive," "The Ides of March," "Crazy, Stupid, Love"), Ryan Gosling has more than proven himself as a talented actor. I am looking forward to catching his directorial debut "How to Catch a Monster," which will feature the man in question as well as Doctor Who's Matt Smith.
Frequently asked questions
3. Xavier Dolan
This next star is definitely on the rise. Notable for his directorial debut "J'ai Tue Ma Mere," Xavier Dolan hasn't shied away from making a name for himself. With the prospective release of the new film "Miraculum," this actor/director will become an even bigger international star in no time! With acting, writing and directing under his belt, is it possible for anyone not to love this triple threat?
4. Nina Dobrev
I was first introduced to this wonderful actress on "Degrassi: The Next Generation" and immediately fell in love with her portrayal of a single teenage mother. She also did an amazing job as Candace Kelmeckis in the inspirational film "The Perks of Being a Wallflower." She now spends her days juggling three diverse roles on the popular CW show "Vampire Diaries"; she deserves applause for this feat alone.
5. Jessica Lucas
Featured in "Cloverfield," "She's the Man," and "Halloweentown II: Kalabar's Revenge," there is no question that this astounding actress is more than capable of holding her own. Jessica Lucas is currently starring in "That Awkward Moment" alongside Hollywood hunks Zac Efron and Michael B. Jordan.

6. Tamara Taylor
Am I the only person obsessed with Fox's hit TV series "Bones"? Ever since catching Tamara Taylor in "Diary of a Mad Black Woman," I've become a major fan of her work. Were you able to catch her performance in "Lost"?
7. Emily VanCamp
I never get tired of tuning in to watch Ms. VanCamp serve up a slice of revenge as Emily Thorne. Famous for her roles in "Brothers & Sisters" and "Everwood," there's no denying that Emily VanCamp is a total boss.
8. Seth Rogen
As one of the funniest comedians around, it's no surprise that Seth Rogen is constantly ranked as a fan favorite among movie-goers. This hilarious actor is most known for "Pineapple Express," "Superbad," and "Knocked Up." Rogen is set to star in "Neighbors" alongside Zac Efron and Rose Byrne. I always feel a little nostalgic whenever Rogen is on the big screen. Am I the only one that misses the classic "Freaks and Geeks"?
9. Cobie Smulders
As part of the popular TV series "How I Met Your Mother," Cobie Smulders cemented her status as an A-List star; I don't think I'll ever be ready for the show's end. Not only did she take charge as Maria Hill in "The Avengers," she will expertly reprise her role in "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." There's no shame in admitting that I am totally going to watch "The Lego Movie" just because she's in it, right?
10. Meaghan Rath
"Being Human" has become one of my favorite shows to watch on the Syfy network; it revolves around a ghost, vampire and werewolf who try to find ways to coexist as roommates. I love the dynamic between co-stars Sam Witwer, Sam Huntington and Meaghan Rath, who stars as Sally Malik. With her fabulous acting chops, this lovely actress is certainly one to watch out for.
11. Nathan Fillion
Lastly, as a follower of all things related to "Castle," I can't wait to catch Nathan Fillion on "Community." As a major soap opera fan, I've been following his career since his days on "One Life to Live" and am happy to see how well he is doing. Trust me when I say that you should definitely be watching "Castle."
From Ellen Page, Sandra Oh to Michael Cera, there are countless Canadian stars who continue to bring on the heat with each project that they tackle; the list of my favorite stars is endless. Who are some of your favorite Canadian stars? Which of their shows or films are you excited to catch in the new year?
