13 Hottest Male Designers on Project Runway ...

By Shannon

Who are your favorite male designers on Project Runway? For those not familiar with the show, 16 fashion designers come to New York to compete for various prizes. So far there have been 12 “regular” seasons and 3 “All-Stars” seasons that bring back previous designers to compete again. Whatever the premise, you can always count on drama. I don't know all of them, but out of the ones I have seen, here are my favorites male designers on Project Runway. Some are a bit, um, unique, so you'll probably be scratching your heads at some of my choices. Whatever. I like the weird ones anyway.

1 Rami Kashou, Season 4

Rami Kashou, Season 4 Oh come on. Anyone who's seen the show has to agree he's one of the hottest male designers on Project Runway. In addition to being immensely talented (he was the runner-up on Season 4 and featured on “All-Stars” Season 1), he's good-natured and gorgeous! Seriously, they need to make him a centerfold in Cosmo alongside an advisory about heart attacks caused by extended viewing. I'd suggest putting him in an art museum as an exhibit, but I wouldn't want to make the other sculptures jealous. Next.

2 Anthony Ryan Auld, Season 9

Anthony Ryan Auld, Season 9 What I like about Anthony Ryan goes deeper than fashion. Not only is he a genuinely nice guy and extremely talented (he won “All-Stars” Season 2!), he's a cancer survivor. Most guys probably wouldn't want to talk about losing a testicle, but he's very upfront about it and even founded a nonprofit organization for other patients and their families. I just think it's great how he's so positive and uses his experience to help others; I can't say I'd be able to. Oh, and he's got a Southern accent! Big plus! Speaking of Southern boys...

3 Kayne Gillaspie, Season 3

Kayne Gillaspie, Season 3 This cutie is from Tennessee-Nashville, to be precise. His accent isn't as strong as #2, but we can forgive him for that because he's such a sweet, down-to-earth guy. If you want to see a picture that will make you blush while reading all about him, visit his bio on johnathankayne.com. His Lifetime.com profile also says he has a tattoo and piercing below the waist. I'd ask to see it, but even I'm not that bold. Anymore. Next.

4 Fabio Costa, Season 10

Fabio Costa, Season 10 Not many men can look good “untrimmed,” but Fabio pulls it off. But then, he has a way of making things that most people would throw out look progressive and cool. I'd suggest putting him on a travel brochure for Brazil (where he said his family's from), but I'm not sure that country could handle that many visitors. I'd hate to see it sink into the ocean.

5 Gunnar Deatherage, Season 10

Gunnar Deatherage, Season 10 Here's another one with off-the-runway appeal. You can read more about it here today.com but, in a nutshell, he stood up for a client who was being bullied and went out of his way to make her feel special. He may come off as a drama queen, but he's got a good heart.

6 Bradon MacDonald, Season 12

Bradon MacDonald, Season 12 Not only can he rock a bow tie like nobody's business, he's very down-to-earth and innovative; he made a wedding dress I'd wear in a minute from stuff he found at Home Depot! Even better than that, a challenge starring Jesse Tyler Ferguson (Modern Family) prompted him to propose to his partner on live television! Later in the episode, his partner Josh called him on Skype and proposed to him! It's Mitch and Cam all over again-so sweet.

7 Jerell Scott, Season 5

Jerell Scott, Season 5 One thing I love about Jerell is that he's self-taught. He got into the industry as a model and found that it was a lot less expensive to make the clothes he wanted to wear than to buy them. Not that you'd want him to wear clothes anyway, with a body like his! If you want a closer look, he's in Janet Jackson's “Son of a Gun (I Betcha Think This Song Is About You)" video. Nice.

8 Jeremy Brandrick, Season 12

Jeremy Brandrick, Season 12 One look at this Brit and you can tell he's a sweetie. There are many reasons to love him, but what I like most is his devotion to his family. Unlike others, he actually seemed happy when he was eliminated because he finally got to go home and see his kids and husband. I'm sure the others miss their families too, but I found his positive attitude inspiring. That, and he has a British accent. Every time he came on the screen, I thought, "Just keep talking. You can read out of the phone book for all I care. Just keep talking."

9 Seth Aaron Henderson, Season 7

Seth Aaron Henderson, Season 7 This guy has two titles-winner of Season 7 and winner of “All-Stars” Season 3! This is awesome, of course, but what I can't explain is why I'm so drawn to him. I don't think it's his looks, although he is one of the few men I've seen who looks good in eyeliner. Better than I do, anyway. No, I think it's because his eyes are always smiling. He always seems to be laughing at something, which is about the sexiest thing I can think of in a man.

10 Christopher Collins, Season 8

Christopher Collins, Season 8 Here's another one who comes off as a sweetie. He's got a great smile, fabulous biceps, fun disposition…I could wax poetic about Christopher all day, but the thing I like most is his charitable spirit. In October 2010, he made a very personal video for the “It Gets Better” project. He also says he'd be a scuba instructor if he weren't a designer. I'd take lessons from him anytime, if for no other reason than to see him in a wet suit.

11 Zac Posen

Zac Posen I said I'd talk about the hottest men on Project Runway; I never said they'd all be contestants. Zac is a fashion prodigy-he started his own (and very successful) line when he was 21. In contrast, when I was 21 I was in Myrtle Beach doing body shots off a guy who looked like Brad Pitt. No, not really. Anyway, biography.com says he's dressed the likes of Natalie Portman, Claire Danes and Gwyneth Paltrow. He started judging Project Runway in season 11 and has been eye candy ever since.

12 Joshua McKinley, Season 9

Joshua McKinley, Season 9 This smooth-skinned, muscle-bound cutie was one of the runners-up on his season, as well as in the top 4 on the second season of “All Stars.” He has a very interesting way about him that comes out in his work, especially some of the dresses featured on the website I mentioned in #3. He seems intense, but I like that because I am too. If you don't want to go into that, you can always just look at the pictures. Either that, or visit the aforementioned museum exhibit. I think he'd make a nice sculpture, don't you?

13 Suede, Season 5

Suede, Season 5 Some of my friends think I'm crazy for this, but I've decided that I don't care. Not only does he like cats and is one of the few men I've seen who looks good with purple hair, he's a really nice guy. He recently found an article I wrote on my personal blog and seemed happy about it; at least, that's what his “tweets” led me to believe. I'm glad he was, because I was afraid I came off too creepy and obsessed. Maybe I did, but at least it was received well.

Like I said, I like guys with personality. I don't watch much reality TV, but I enjoy shows like this that are at least partly based on talent as opposed to entirely on drama. The things I've said can be verified on Lifetime.com and a Google search, so I'm not just talking out of my ass. Not this time, anyway. Who are your favorites? Who have I left off? Who do you disagree with? Do you think I'm a little crazy for making my choices? Anyway, discuss!
