One of the most recent celebrity apologies that had everyone talking was Paula Dean's apology for using racial slurs. Many people felt that Paula Dean's apology was forced and that she never actually apologized for her actions. To most people it seemed like she made excuses for what she did, instead of simply saying that she was sorry. This incident has definitely done some damage to her reputation. Many of her sponsors, including Food Network, which aired her show, have decided to stop promoting her brand. After the incident, stores like Wal-Mart decided to pull Paula Dean merchandise from their shelves.

Golf great Tiger Woods was forced to issue a public apology when details about his alleged extra-marital affairs were made public. While many celebrities decide to issue short statements, Woods decided to go with a long one. In fact, his speech was over 1400 words, which is about the length of The Declaration of Independence. In his speech Woods apologized to his wife, his family, friends, and his fans. He admitted that his behavior was wrong and that he was seeking help. At the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards, Kanye West decided to rudely interrupted Taylor Swift's speech as she accepted an award for Best Female Vocalist. As Taylor was speaking, Kanye hopped on stage and took the microphone from her hand. He then stated that he thought that Beyonce should have won the award instead. I think that Reese Witherspoon is a celebrity that seems to have high morals and isn't afraid to admit when she's made a mistake. During a recent traffic stop, Reese was arrested for disorderly conduct after she refused to listen to the police officers request to stay in the car. In the same incident, her husband was also arrested for driving under the influence after failing a sobriety test. After being arrested, Reese quickly owned up to her mistake and publicly apologized.
